Belonging Femininity and Fandom is centred around a small collaborative zine. It is an ode to the healing power fan fiction and explores how femininity and a sense of belonging is constituted within modern fan spaces. This exhibition and accompanying zine act as a love letter to the escapist pleasures of fan fiction. The work on show is the result of an approach to making that echoes the obsessive tendencies of a fan collecting, drawing and writing to celebrate what they love. The ephemera that can often be found within the bedroom of teens is a rich and joyous source of inspiration. Online in chatrooms and on social media fans join together to make a collective in honour of their object of desire. We in turn wish to celebrate the fans who use their collective passions to bring joy to others.
